Follow along as we build Wildscape Muse

The Journey Begins

After years of struggling with my own yardowrk I got tired of mowing and watering my ever needy lawn, I decided to go native. After doing some research I found a lot of helpful websites and guidance, but none provided me with a simple tool to get me started on turning my yard into a naive gardenscape oasis. As a recent AWS Cloud Institute graduate and completely new to tech and coding I decided to start building my own solution. Here’s why this matters and how I’m approaching it.

The Problem

Creating a native plant garden today is unnecessarily complicated:

  • Information is scattered across numerous websites
  • Existing tools don’t provide comprehensive guidance
  • There’s no clear path from planning to implementation
  • There is no easy solution to guide garden novices or entice a different gardening approach

The Solution

Wildscape Muse will be different. I’m building a tool that:

  • Provides personalized plant recommendations
  • Offers interactive garden planning tools
  • Guides users through the entire process
  • Helps educate on the benefits of a natural gardenscape

Technical Approach

I’m building this using:

  • Django backend for robust data management
  • React (Vite) frontend for a dynamic user experience
  • AWS infrastructure for scalability
  • AI integration for personalized guidance

Next Steps

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be:

  1. Continuing to set up the core infrastructure
  2. Building the plant database
  3. Developing the recommendation engine
  4. Creating the garden planning interface
  5. Work on integrating AI tools and so much more!
